Newport stories — Flash Nonfiction

I was asked to participate in an art project called Ffresh: the Student Moving Image Festival of Wales, which rotates from town to town in Wales. This year it’s in my hometown, Newport. The brief was to write a 50 word factual story about some aspect of the town. My story and those by others are now going up on the website. I wrote about Somerton Park, the now-demolished home of Newport County football club. It was tough to choose between that and my memories of Beechwood Park, which is the loveliest urban space I know! Next year, some of these stories will be turned into student films. Take a look, even if the nearest you’ve ever been to Newport was to trundle by it on the motorway going to a Robbie Williams concert at the Millennium Stadium.
