Publishers Weekly names Collaborator of Bethlehem a Book of the Year

Publishers Weekly, which booksellers and librarians rely on for its appraisal of new fiction, has named my novel The Collaborator of Bethlehem one of its Books of the Year. I’m proud that my mystery novel, published by a small New York house, Soho Press, and the first in a ground-breaking series about a Palestinian detective, bursts in on a list mostly made up of established novelists backed by massive publicity budgets or anointed by Oprah.

“This powerful first novel from a British journalist humanizes the struggle over the West Bank through an unlikely detective, a 56-year-old Palestinian teacher in a refugee camp,” the PW review says.

PW follows another pre-publication magazine, Booklist, which already named The Collaborator of Bethlehem one of the Top 10 Mysteries of 2007.
